Meet Vanessa

Vanessa and her mother have lived in Ocala for about five years. Vanessa was introduced to Wear Gloves through another local nonprofit and quickly became involved with our community.

Vanessa works one day a week at the Dignity Center, where she helps assemble and organize products for shipment. This work allows her to develop new skills, build confidence, and earn an income within a caring and encouraging environment.

Carlos, Vanessa’s client advocate and case manager, provides patient guidance and support.

“I like Carlos, he’s kind and teaches me.”

In addition to Carlos, she values the kindness everyone at Wear Gloves shows when working alongside her.

Outside of work, Vanessa enjoys helping her mom cook and spending time outdoors. She was also fortunate to participate in a culinary learning trip to South Carolina, where she spent several weeks learning new cooking techniques and exploring different foods. This experience inspired her and deepened her passion for cooking.

At Wear Gloves, Vanessa has found more than just a job. She’s discovered a community that provides counseling, ongoing support, and encouragement every step of the way. The kindness she receives empowers her to keep learning, growing, and looking forward to new opportunities. Through this support, Vanessa is gaining confidence and a stronger sense of belonging.

Vanessa’s sweet, eager spirit leaves a lasting impression on everyone she meets. Her positive attitude and warm heart shine through in everything she does, uplifting those around her and inspiring a spirit of kindness and community.
