Wear Gloves has existed for nearly 17 years and since the beginning we knew that the true pathway to success is through dignity, not dependency. That means hand-ups, not handouts. Wear Gloves believes in the saying: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." With that in mind, we design our programs to support independence. We work so that one day Marion County might not need us.
Making Marion County Even More Beautiful
Becoming partners with the City of Ocala and Marion County
For more than 3 years, Wear Gloves has partnered with the City of Ocala and now Marion County to help make our city, our home, even more beautiful. Wear Gloves employs two Beautification Teams made up of over 25 hardworking team members. One team clears storm drains around Ocala, helping prevent flooding and keeping our streets safe from debris. The second team visits various parks and garbage receptacles, replacing trash bags and removing litter from the ground and water features. Together, these teams help make our city and county clean, safe, and beautiful for every resident, while providing meaningful work and an opportunity to give back to our community.
Meet the beautification team
The Wear Gloves Beautification Teams are more than the sum of their parts. Our crews are made up of people who entered Wear Gloves in need and have since directed their lives towards serving their community and building important skills. Each crew member is on a pathway towards success, guided by our workforce development manager, client advocates, our case management team, and one another. Through peer support and on-the-job training we support each individual to achieve real independence. Earning a steady income is only the foundation. A foundation upon which they build monuments of success and fulfillment. Every day is an opportunity to lay a brick.

We at Wear Gloves get to come to work every day and celebrate the successes of our clients. Big or small, each victory is a stepping stone on their pathway. Whether it be obtaining a driver's license, buying their first car, or moving on to a new career, every accomplishment is celebrated. Slips happen, but with the support of each other we aim to prevent anyone from falling. When one person slips, two people hoist them up and get them standing again. Until eventually we all stand tall together. We are proud to serve our community as a team, because we're all in this together.
